Security Features
Secure VPN - As with many other antivirus suites Norton offers its own VPN and while it may not have the fastest connection speeds it definitely boasts a broad selection of connections with servers in countries all around the world. It also offers nice additional features such as a kill switch, unlimited browsing data, Tor compatibility and 256-bit AES encryption.
Password manager - Norton offers its own substantial password manager and while it isn’t as all-encompassing as specialised management apps like Dashline it does the job. It comes with unlimited password storage, 256-bit AES encryption, browser extensions for Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox and much more. Overall a simple but solid password manager, suitable for most users' needs.
Smart Firewall - Norton Smart Firewall at its default settings is a vast improvement from the built-in firewalls provided by Windows and MacOS. It’s fully customizable and allows you to set rules for every program on your PC. More features for more advanced users include SSL man-in-the-middle attack detection, ARP and DNS spoofing protection and more.
SafeCam protection - Blocks unauthorised access to your PCs webcam, ensuring that your camera is not being controlled by a third-party.
Real-time threat detection - Norton’s threat detection is second to none and that doesn’t just apply to its full PC scan. You can rely on real-time threat detection to prevent the accidental download of everything from Malware to zero-day attacks. In the case of encrypted and zipped files it will prevent them from being unzipped and decrypted.
PC cloud backup - Very similar to other cloud storage tools such as iCloud, Dropbox and OneDrive. Depending on what Norton plan you select you can store anywhere from 10-500gb of data. If you aren’t already using one of the aforementioned cloud storage tools then this does the job just fine.
All in all, Norton 360 proves itself to be one of the best Antivirus suites available in 2022, it is a comprehensive feature-full suite and although a little clunky to navigate at first will help you keep your PC and information safe.
